GREINER BILLINGS
Traditional water submetering is installed where each individual residence is
already plumbed for separate water service; i.e. a dedicated cold-water-feed line
and an individual hot water heater. Prior to installation, and in compliance with
California law; GREINER BILLINGS submits every water meter to the California
Department of Agriculture, Weights & Measures (DOAWM) for testing and
approval.
Retrofitting submeters into an existing structure involves locating the individual cold
water feed lines and inserting a submeter in the line. Depending on the location of
the individual cold water lines, the meter may be placed on the outside of the
structure for direct viewing and reading or, it may be placed inside the residence
and connected to a remote reading register on the exterior of the structure. Costs
for installation vary significantly depending on such variables as the kind of meter
utilized, the locations of the cold water lines and ease of access to the installation
location.
Once the submeter installation is complete, GREINER BILLINGS provides
cyclical meter reading and billing services. Rates will vary dependent upon the
number of meters involved, the frequency of the billing cycle, what ancillary
reports and services are requested and whether or not accounts receivable
services are requested.
In instances where the individual residences are not plumbed separately, owners
may exercise the option of installing a “Ratio Utility Billing System” (RUBS). You
may learn more about RUBS by clicking the “RUBS” Tab.
